Background
Cheshire’s Laser Mail, a leading mailing solutions company, was approached by Worcester Cathedral to manage a large-scale personalised mailing campaign. The campaign required sending out a personalised A4 letter along with a personalised A5 response device to a vast number of recipients.
Challenge
The primary challenge of this project was to efficiently and accurately match each A4 letter with its corresponding A5 response device. Traditionally, this process can be time-consuming and prone to errors. Sending a wrong response device with a letter could lead to confusion and potential setbacks for Worcester Cathedral’s campaign.
Solution
To address this challenge, Cheshire’s Laser Mail devised an innovative solution that streamlined the process and minimised the risk of errors:
Single Long Paper Printing:
Instead of printing the A4 letters and A5 response devices separately and then manually matching them, we printed both the letter and response device on a single long piece of paper. This method ensured that each A4 letter was directly linked to its corresponding A5 response device without the need for manual matching.
Folding and Bolt Cutting:
After printing the A4 letters and A5 response devices on the same long sheet, we folded and bolt-cut the paper to create the required two separate sheets. This step ensured a precise separation of the A4 letters from the A5 response devices while maintaining their unique link.
Mailmarking and Mailsorting:
In addition to our innovative printing and cutting process, we de-duplicated, mailmarked and mailsorted the data. By doing so, we were able to access a cheaper postal service with Royal Mail, significantly reducing postage costs for Worcester Cathedral.
